Ocean Queen

Launched in 1952 as the first vessel in the now defunct National Cantopean Line, the 800 foot San Sylan operated routine routes between her namesake and Tokyo, being transferred to the San Sylan-Sydney run in 1958 with the launching of the mammoth Cantopea, and finally conducting Honolulu-San Sylan runs up until her retirement in 1978. Following five years mothballed, she was purchased by the RoCN and recommissioned after thorough refitting and modification as the RoCN Santa Maria.
