First and Final Voyage

The last photo taken of RoCN Resistan as she departs on her maiden voyage on 1 June 1954, escorting the passenger liner Puerto de la Riviera. The liner had been rapidly requisitioned by the military as a troop transport, and had not as yet had time to have low visibility camo applied. Carrying almost seven hundred soldiers, she was tasked with relieving the outnumbered defenders on Patterson Island.

Resistan was the only vessel of her class to be equipped with twin mount turrets, and her crew were, in the words of the highest ranking survivor during the hearings which followed her loss, "utterly undertrained." She sank within minutes of being hit by torpeados from a hostile submarine which had been spotted in the area hours before the ship's loss.

Following the war, a memorial to Resistan was erected outside the Third Fleet's headquarters in Los Enitha, which serves as the headquarters for the RoCN's training deployments. The memorial was later rededicated in honour of all sailors lost in defense of their homeland following the Implacable tragedy.
